Yerevan. Armenia. Pets
🌞Barev, everyone!
The haze has finally cleared, and the mountains are visible every day. A warm spring has come to Yerevan, and with it - comfortable weather.
We got a bit caught up in things and dropped out of the internet space for a little while. There were reasons for that.
🐍 As you may know, Armenia is rich in snakes, especially in mountainous areas: the climate is very favorable for them - dry and hot. There are venomous species - the most dangerous among them is the blunt-nosed viper (gyurza) - and non-venomous ones too: grass snakes and racers. There are also legless lizards that can be mistaken for a snake; we wrote about one such case when we ran into it in Nor Arabkir park.
In Armenian, snake is օձ, pronounced roughly like "odz".
So, where was I. Last Saturday we "suddenly" acquired a pet. Well, sort of - Vlad had long dreamed of some kind of critter. We can't get a dog or a cat because of a strong allergy, so our list of possible pets is very limited. And relocant life is such that keeping animals comes with big restrictions and hassles.
🐌 Two years ago, walking toward the Cascade past the Japanese embassy, we picked up a snail. It still lives with us and is quite well-fed.
🙉 Last Saturday we went to a pet store to look at someone more serious - just with one eye, "just to ask".
And after that it's all a blur.
We're off to get a big box for Fedya - that's the name of our corn snake - so he feels comfortable in it while we order him a big house. From now on, notes about Fedya will occasionally appear here.
P.S. Have a good day, everyone.
Our photoshoot with Fedya - as a bonus🐍.
